I am a patient in Ward 2 South West Acute hospital. I was feeling like no one understood me and just thought I was being rude. I don't really like talking much and live alone. Sharon (dementia companion) came in to me to talk. She has a calming voice and wanted to listen to me. I know I can be difficult at times. But she made a effort which I liked. She took me outside which I really enjoyed as it was so peaceful. She didn't pressure me to talk. Just sat with me. I missed her when she was off at the weekend. I maybe was rude to her when she came back as I thought she forgot me, but she didn't take offence and just laughed it off. I hope others appreciate her too, as you don't find a lot who take the time and effort like she did with me. I don't have a lot of people in my life that I trust. But she definitely is a very good girl and is making my time in hospital more enjoyable.
