My experience with Stars has been a long one. Joining the service via online registration many times but when it came to attending I would fail to show and ultimately have to be signed off. Until I was assigned Jenni as my Recovery worker. The first week I attended she came outside to meet me and walk in with me to ease my anxiety and continues to do so every appointment. I have now been a part of the service for roughly just over a year and things have changed for me a lot. My trust in the services. My outlook on addiction and my own personal battle with addiction but also all the other factors into why I ended up where I was in the first place have all changed in a good way. If I have ongoing problems elsewhere that are contributing to my use of drugs or alcohol then that is worked through and helped. This is all is down to my recovery worker not giving up on me and continuously reassuring me that I am capable of achieving what I want to. Contact is regular and regardless to appointment dates , if I am struggling with immediate urges etc then I know I am able to contact. I would not be where I am today had I not been given the support I have. I know sobriety is possible. Without the months of work I have done and continue to do with Jenni I am not sure where things would’ve ended up.
