"Recovery from broken little finger that surpassed expectations"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Fracture Clinic The Ulster Hospital / Occupational Therapy Trauma and Orthopaedic Outpatient Team The Ulster Hospital / Ward 4A (Orthopaedics)

(as the patient),

I broke my little finger badly whilst playing with my daughter at Easter, requiring surgery and following this, occupational hand therapy. It was made clear to me that this is quite a bad break, and I resolved to do all I could to recover. The care I received at the Ulster Hospital was excellent. From the surgeons, doctors, nurses, consultants and the hand therapist, I couldn't have asked for better treatment and care. I followed the guidance following surgery, and found a helpful video to allow me to continue exercising without using my hand/finger. I continued to work from home, using one hand and voice commands to continue my work. Once I had my occupational health appointment, I quickly put into action the exercises and routines recommended. At my follow up appointment, my therapist was delighted with my progress, visibly amazed at the movement and mobility I now had. I can now clench my fist without effort, and I have been able to return to my normal routine and work without a hitch. Thank you so much to everyone involved, who has helped me.
