A moment to say thank you to all involved of the birth of baby.
Our incredible Community Midwife Team ❤️
Sophie ❤️
Sophie, you were such a huge part of getting me through this experience. From the very beginning, you understood just how much anxiety I had around birth, and you never once made me feel silly, dramatic or like I was asking too much.
You went above and beyond to help me understand what was happening, prepare for birth and, most importantly, help me believe that I could actually do it.
Your knowledge was incredible, but what made you so special was the way you delivered it. You were always so real, honest, calm and reassuring. You never sugar-coated things, but you also never made me feel frightened. You gave me realistic expectations while still making me feel safe.
When I was anxious, you listened.
When I was scared, you reassured me.
When I doubted myself, you reminded me that I could do it.
You gave me confidence when I had very little of my own and made me feel like I had someone in my corner throughout the whole process.
Thank you, Sophie, for being the incredible person you are and for going so far beyond what you ever had to. You made such a huge difference through out my pregnancy, and I will forever be grateful that you were part of our journey. ❤️
Kelly ❤️
Kelly, you are another person who I genuinely could not have done this without.
From helping me with harvesting colostrum and preparing for breastfeeding, to the emotional support you gave me after our baby arrived, you were there for so much of our journey.
But it was the support you gave me after birth that I will probably remember most.
After everything I had been through, the reality of becoming a mum hit me hard. The baby blues, emotions, exhaustion and trying to adjust to this completely new life felt incredibly overwhelming.
And you were there.
You didn’t just check that the baby was okay — you checked that I was okay.
Your kindness, patience and understanding helped me through some really difficult moments.
You helped me find my feet when I was struggling to adjust to motherhood and helped me feel like I was capable of doing this.
You were a lifeline when I needed one.
You are genuinely one of a kind, Kelly, and I will always remember the difference you made to me during those first days of motherhood. ❤️
Megan ❤️
You were such a calming presence in very overwhelming times. You were so kind and calming during my first sweep and really took the time when I was very anxious to help me breathe and get through it.
When you came to see me that first day after birth, you were genuinely a lifeline. You helped me start processing everything that had happened and helped me find my feet when I was struggling with the reality of becoming a mum.
And to Shannon, Eilidh and Kerry, thank you for every visit, every check-in and every bit of reassurance and support you gave us. You were all such an important part of our journey.
Kirkcaldy Hospital ❤️
Then came the incredible team at Kirkcaldy Hospital, who cared for us through labour, birth and those first precious hours with our baby.
Gillian — thank you for your incredible support during the night when I was in active labour. Your support during the internals, which were particularly difficult for me, meant so much. You were patient, understanding and reassuring during moments I found incredibly challenging.
Wendy and Gemma — thank you for starting us on this part of our journey and helping us feel comfortable and settled. The induction process brought so many anxieties, but you took the time to talk to us, reassure us and make us feel like people rather than patients.
Adele and Lacey — thank you for supporting us through the difficult and lengthy epidural process, especially with everything going on with my blood pressure. You were such kind and reassuring faces during a stressful time and somehow even managed to make me laugh.
Rebecca — thank you for supporting us throughout the epidural process and helping us navigate the decisions and next steps when things became difficult. Having someone there to guide and support us made such a difference.
Lindsay — thank you for looking after my husband while I was under anaesthetic and helping make those first moments with our baby special and memorable for him. Knowing he had someone supporting him while I couldn’t be there meant so much to us both.
Saskia — thank you for being there at 3am when everything suddenly set in and the emotions became overwhelming. I don’t think you will ever understand how much I needed someone in that moment, but I will always remember that you were there.
Emma — thank you for taking our baby for a little while when we desperately needed some rest. That small act of kindness meant the world during such an intense and exhausting time.
And to all of the doctors, anaesthetists, nurses, midwives and wider medical team at Kirkcaldy Hospital — thank you.
We are thankful we had a medical team who cared, listened, reassured us ans advocated for us and our baby.
People who held our hands, made us laugh, helped us make difficult decisions and reminded us that we could keep going.
Sophie and Kelly, in particular, you both gave me so much more than care. You gave me confidence, reassurance, understanding and the belief that I could become a mum even when I was struggling to believe it myself.
I will carry that with me forever. ❤️
To every person who cared for us — thank you for helping us through one of the hardest, most terrifying, emotional and ultimately most beautiful experiences of our lives.
You may do this every day, but for us, you were there on the day our entire world changed.
"You were all such an important part of our journey"
