"My experience in mental health services"

About: Wathwood Hospital

(as a volunteer/advocate),

My first experience with the mental health service wasn’t really good. Safe to say I was transferred back to prison from being at Arnold Lodge for a period of three weeks. Again I was transferred from Rampton Hospital which I found challenging, I also found it hard to contain my abusive behaviour and language and again I was transferred to Prison twice at my request and now years down the line I’m at Wathwood medium secure unit.

I was sceptical about my move to Wathwood and when I arrived coming from prison I was really shocked by my arrival, the staff were fantastic, very warm, kind and for the first time in my adult life I feel a sense of structure, progression and a way forward to a better life, who knew I would end up here. Safe to say that I’m not looking back thanks to Wathwood
