"Lack of communication"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

I find the care on the ward chaotic. It feels like the staff I have met are not caring, language and attitude are bad.

The Doctors have explained what is wrong but medication was changed. The things that she was to have to help her did not materialise and we felt there was a lack of communication

My mum has dementia, staff knew this but spoke to her as though she was normal. I found there to be lots of office politics with the nursing staff.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with some feedback. We are very sorry to hear that your experience was not good. We do manage unacceptable attitude in line with the Trust's attitude, behaviour and communication policy. The Trust also invest into excellent customer service and dementia training for all out staff. Each ward areas has a matron allocated to ensure good patient care. Your feedback will be shared with the teams on the elderly care wards. Feel free to get in touch with the matron to discuss this further.
