Some elderly friends of my family (they are 90 and 91 years old) have both been ill recently, but their GP is refusing to come out to see them. They are both very frail and housebound. The 91 year old recently had a sceptic toe. She was in a lot of pain. She contacted her GP surgery. The GP rang my friend back, and prescribed anti-biotics over the phone for her sceptic toe. The GP never came out to examine my friend.
I thought that GPs got extra monies for carrying out annual examinations on patients over the age of 75. I would appreciate someone confirming (or not) this for me.
