I've recently finished a course of CBT that has given me a key set of tools to deal with my anxiety long-term. I worked with an excellent therapist who was kind, supportive, non-judgemental. Working with her helped give me the confidence to tackle my anxiety and I am indebted to her for this. With the techniques I now have, I am confident that I can have a future without crippling anxiety. I really can't stress enough how much this service has changed my life.
The only fly in the ointment is that a friend is using Wandsworth IAPT services as well and she was told mid-course that the maximum number of sessions had been reduced and therefore she was near the end of her treatment. I needed a longer period of sessions to make the most of the learning opportunity and engrain the new techniques to help me with alternative reponses to anxieties - and I am concerned that future patients won't be able to do so.
