"Ambulance service"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My elderly dad has been admitted to Monklands on several occasions over the past 4 months. Each time he has received his initial care from the paramedics and I feel that this service is grossly overlooked when it comes to praise.

Each paramedic crew - mainly from Coatbridge base but the last admission was a crew from Cumbernauld - have displayed a professionalism which has been exemplary. They all have reassured my dad and me and provided excellent care at all times. On admission to hospital, they explained everything which was happening and continued to be a great help and calming influence.

As the paramedics are the first on the scene of any incident, they assess, attend and reassure the patient and family and sadly they do not get the praise they deserve. I know I can't speak for everyone, but I am sure most families are so grateful but are so concerned about their loved ones that they forget to thank the paramedics. I wish to extend my huge thanks to all the paramedics and commend them for the fantastic job they do every single day.

Thank you.

Dear Kinghorn

Thank you so much for sharing your dad’s experience. It sounds like it has been a really difficult few months for you all.

Whilst it is always nice to receive positive feedback about the care we provide, what struck me about your dad’s story is when you wrote about the Paramedics explaining everything, and that they were a ‘calming experience’. This is such an important part of the care we provide and can have such a positive impact on our patients and their families.

I am sure that the Paramedics who have attended your dad will be delighted to receive your feedback and so I will ensure your post is shared with all of the staff at Coatbridge and Cumbernauld Ambulance Stations.

I do hope that your dad is now recovering well and on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service, please pass on my best wishes to him.

Thanks again for sharing.

Take care

Martin.
