"My care has been second to none"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I have been under mental health services since december 2009. Thats 7 years and 3 months. My care has been second to none. I have been under a cpn and psychiatrist from gedling cmht in carlton since 2014 when I was discharged from a 14 month section in highbury hospital. I have been in various services as a patient and volunteer and student and would like to say a huge thankyou to the involvement centre at dmh...the recovery college at dmh...the team at gedling cmht especially sue who has been through hard times with me recently...haven house...county crisis team and the mandala centre where I will be starting therapy in the coming months..

Learning and development especially tony who was my tutor on the peer support training and liz and jo for supporting me during my placement on rowan 2. Because of the amazing support and treatment ive had im getting stronger emotionally and my recovery is starting to feel worthwhile. I wouldnt change it for the world. Im seeking employment now and have applied for postgraduate study in mental health recovery and social inclusion. Ive also got great faith in my family and friends. So thank you all concerned for helping me find my inner strength. Thanks guys x

Dear Ali12

Thank you so much for sharing your story and your experiences. I can see that so many people from the Trust have been able to help you as you manage your recovery. I shall make sure they are able to read your posting.

It is always a huge honour to be allowed to share in the lives and stories of those who have mental health concerns, and I'm sure your story will give increased hope to so many.

It is great that you are planning to continue with your studies to further improve mental health services and please accept my very best wishes for your future achievements.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experiences.

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Hi Ali12,

It was lovely to read your story this morning - not only because you mention the Involvement Centre, which is my particular area of interest, but also because you found supportive people in so many different areas of the Trust. I know most of the people you've mentioned and I know they all do their utmost to support people in the way you describe, so it's great to read that in your case, they've been able to help.

While thanking everyone else, I hope you also acknowledge your own perseverance in tackling those 'hard times' you talk about. Each person you mention in your story has played their part, but the impact they had in your life was amplified by your strength and commitment to recovering, and that's what will now carry you onto employment and postgrad study.

Keep going, and thanks so much for taking the time to say thank you - it means a lot to us all.

Amy
