Hello my name is,
Cathy,
I’m the Team Leader for NHS Lanarkshire Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (also known as GU medicine and family planning).
We provide a range of services Monday – Friday during the day, as well as evening clinics Monday – Thursday throughout Lanarkshire:
- Sexual health infections- testing and treatment
- All types of contraception
- Pregnancy Testing
- Emergency contraception
- Free condoms
We offer a mixture of booked appointments and drop-in clinics. Appointments are booked via a central booking line which allows clients to be assessed and offered the most suitable appointment at a clinic of their choosing.
We have an automated telephone service which allows clients to access test results anytime 24/7. This is helpful for clients who have attended services for a ‘check up’ but have no symptoms and therefore don’t require a follow-up appointment. Clients with a positive test result will always be contacted directly by clinic staff to discuss treatment options and follow-up.
Young People
We provide drop-in youth clinics for people aged under 20. The clinics are staffed by doctors and nurses and provide the full range of services.
We also provide nurse led drop-in clinics for young people in non-health settings such youth centres and we have two specialist nurses who work in partnership with Social Work and Education to provide additional healthcare support to young people.
You can find out more information about our service and the location of clinics at www.lanarkshiresexualhealth.org
We welcome feedback from people accessing our services and we have feedback boxes in all clinics.
Over 500 clients responded to the national survey to evaluate NHS Lanarkshire Sexual and Reproductive Health Services.
You told us – the reception staff were welcoming and friendly and that you felt the doctor or nurse you saw were approachable and explained treatment they were prescribing in full detail.
You also told us that we didn’t tell you if there would be a delay for you to see the doctor or nurse. We realise the importance of information and clear communication so we have updated our check-in process so that staff routinely let people know of any current delays when they arrive. We also provide regular updates to people in the waiting area if further delays are anticipated.
If you have an experience of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Service you would like to share, please speak to a member of staff, respond on Patient Opinion, or visit the “Your Feedback” Section of the NHS Lanarkshire website to see the other ways to get in touch www.nhslanarkshire.org.uk
