How could we ensure that the learning from this story was shared as widely as possible?
This was a question we were asked recently. Our mission is to provide a place where people are able to share their experiences of health and care in ways which are safe, simple, and lead to learning and change.
And, although all stories published are available for everyone to read, we wondered if there was anything we could do to support the sharing across organisations as well as within organisations.
We believe stories have the greatest impact, leading to learning and change, when they are received, read and acted on by clinical teams. It’s great to see more clinicians than ever getting involved with stories being shared on Care Opinion and we want to keep encouraging that too.
Solution?
Across Scotland, for a trial period, wee’d like to set up 6 specialty-specific subscriptions or “clinical communities” and invite clinicians, or anyone with a professional interest, to sign up to receive a weekly email (just one!) which will contain a link to stories shared about that specialty in Scotland.
Trial specialty specific subscriptions:
- Stroke care
- Maternity care
- Cardiology/cardiothoracic
- Paediatrics
- Emergency care (eg stories about Accident & Emergency, Acute Assessment Units)
- Oncology
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one! You don’t have to do anything except, if you have time, read the email and the stories. Sometimes, but hopefully not too often, there may not be any stories for you.
Impact?
Of course, it would be good to know if it’s helpful to read stories: how have you been encouraged, what have you learned, what have you done differently? So we’d appreciate you completing a short evaluation which we’ll write to you about later in 2019.
Interested?
Send us your name, email address, organisation, the clinical community you are interested in and a sentence about why you want to join in to info@careopinion.org.uk
Looking forward to hearing from you!
