At Care Opinion we like to make things as simple as we can, for as many people as we can. It's part of our mission.
Sometimes, reading a story or a response on Care Opinion can be a bit of a challenge. It might be long and complicated. You might have difficulties with reading, or concentration, or language, or vision. From time to time, you might need a little help.
So just recently we added a new button to our stories and responses, and to many of our other pages too. You'll see it near this blog post. It looks like this:
It's called the "immersive reader button". But what does it do?
Click the button for help with reading
When you click the button you can get different kinds of help with reading.
First, you can hear the text spoken. Just click the play button if you want that.
Second, you get a simpler view with large text. You can change the size, font, spacing and background colour.
Third, you can have the words split into syllables, or show parts of speech in different colours. This is good if you are just getting started with reading.
Fourth, you can narrow the focus to just one line or a few lines of text. And you can have the text translated into a number of other languages.
For some languages, you can even have the text translated and then spoken to you.
The best way to see if this helps you is to try it out. Play with the settings until you find out what works best for you.
We hope you like it!

I really like this feature James. This is so helpful for us at Nottinghamshire Healthcare with having a huge range of services.
Anything that promotes accessibility for people who prefer to use audio and those who may need help to read or concentrate gets our vote!
Feeling included and involved = great communication.
Brilliant!
