About: Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

Just spent 8 days in Cardio at Crosshouse, Kilmarnock.

From Domestics, porters, background staff etc, through Junior Doctors - can't be faulted. Magnificent.

Consultants? Appear to have forgotten how to Doctor. The main aim seemed to be to discharge me. Long time since I have been patronised so intensely.

It would appear that commenting on the behaviour of Consultants is frowned upon. Ho hum.

With my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your Care Opinion post, I would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to share feedback following your recent admission to the Cardiology Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am delighted to hear that you received such kind, professional and compassionate care from the majority of our staff whilst you were under our care.

However, whilst we always aim to provide care that is safe, caring and respectful, we do recognise that sometimes we get it wrong. When we do, we are committed to learning and improving. Hearing experiences, both good and bad, directly from our patients is one of the best ways for us to capture this valuable feedback.

I have passed your comments about the Consultants to our Clinical Director so that he can share your experience with his colleagues for reflection and learning.

Please accept my good wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.
