My daughter was recently admitted to 106a CCU, with a serious heart condition. From the minute we arrived to the ward the staff were absolutely fantastic. Very welcoming and helped to put both my daughter and myself at ease.
My daughter stayed in CCU for a week, during which time the nursing staff, HCSWs and domestics were all super friendly and went out of their way to help us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Anytime we needed a nurse they were there within a few seconds. What a brilliant team!
Staff nurses Emma, Joanne, Gillian, Kathleen (I think is the name), Claire and Adelle were all absolutely fantastic, can't thank them enough for looking after my daughter so well. They were all very knowledgeable and explained everything to us.
I would like to especially thanks SCN Erin, she came to introduce herself to us when we arrived, checked in on us regularly and was very present on the ward, which is much appreciated as a relative. Anytime we asked for help she was happy to do so.
We would also like to thank Dr Wiles who was awesome. He immediately put us at ease, explained my daughter's procedure to us in a way we could all understand and overall made us feel like we were in good hands. We are so grateful to him.
The majority of medical staff we met were excellent and approachable. However one doctor who was briefly covering the ward I found to be rude and dismissive, seriously lacking in bedside manner. Patients and their relatives are already stressed and worried enough when in an environment like CCU, the last thing they need is a Dr talking down to them and making them feel stupid.
