I received an appointment to attend the Hemswell clinic. However, I really did not know what to expect - all the information I received about the appointment was where it was and when it was. I had been extremely anxious and fearing I was going to given really bad news - I had no idea I was going to potentially have a polyp removed. I feel a little more information about what the appointment could involve would be really beneficial.
Fortunately, I had my husband with me in the waiting room and he was driving - I was pleased I had him there after the procedure. The staff were amazing and I cannot praise them enough. There were four in total and they all put me at ease and I was supplied with gas and air when I was struggling with the pain and was fanned when I got more than a little warm. The room could have been bigger - there was not a lot of room from the end of the bed for people trying to get by and also there were no blinds at the window. Fortunately, I am a sun lover and it didn't bother me but I'm sure others would have found it very annoying, especially under the circumstances.
I think the idea of the clinic is a very good one as long as patients are made aware of what could be happening at the appointment. I was told that previously my procedure would have involved two visits, so I really appreciated that fact that it has all been completed in one day.
