(as a parent/guardian),

My son has experienced problems with a stammer and we were referred to Speech & Language at John Mitchell Place, Newry. We have had an unbelievable experience there. Myself and my son just completed the Parent Child Interaction Therapy with Elaine. I personally have learned so much about stammers and how to help my son. It has been amazing for me and he also loved it. We have learned new ways of play and communication. We also speak openly about his words becoming stuck.  Could not recommend the experience enough, so grateful that these resources are available to us. Elaine herself has been amazing and always there to help.

Elaine is a fantastic Speech and Language Therapist - she is so thorough in how she approaches her work. It's great to hear from parents about how the PCI programme works for families. We are so keen for parents and carers to learn more about speech, language and communication including stammering which can have a huge impact on life. It's even better to hear that your son was comfortable in the sessions and felt he could share how he was feeling with Elaine.

It sounds like you were very receptive to anything that Elaine suggested - it makes such a difference when parents are on board with us and we can work on things as a team! Well done to you too!
