I recently was in antrim for a follow up appointment with ultrsound due to attending ED the previous night. The receptionist was welcoming when entering ultrasound. An ulster university student called my name and took me into the ultrasound room.
When in the room the curtain was pulled and the sonographer started to ask me questions, why I was here etc, I proceeded to inform him that I previously had a DVT in 2019. The sonographer then said you didn't have a DVT and the d-dimer bloods were fine, anything over 1000 isn't normal, and my bloods were 300. I couldn't believe a sonographer was telling me my diagnosis was wrong in 2019, however I did state to him that I was on clexane twice a day, but he still insisted I didn't have a DVT. Then when he started to scan my leg he asked me to sit at the side of the bed and scanned my leg, however the part he was scanning wasn't the sore part of my leg.... and the last time I got a scan I lay on the bed and rotated for the sonographer. I was literally in the cubicle for 5 mins.
When I returned to minors I informed the doctor, to which he was amazing he showed me my results and said I did have a DVT in 2019 and my bloods where not OK back in 2019.
I can't believe this sonographer gave me a WRONG diagnosis when he isn't a doctor, I just hope whoever is in his care doesn't get the wrong diagnosis again!
