Arrived and checked in at approximately 20 minutes early to have an eye injection at Lincoln Hospital
Notices around the room saying if you haven't been seen within 30 minutes of your appointment time to approach the receptionist desk
After I'd waited an hour I went to speak to a staff member and asked if I was still going to be seen as I was over 40 minutes late being seen. The staff member asked my name again and looked on system, they replied that I was on the list and to sit back in waiting room.
A staff member called my name and asked me to follow them into a room and to sit down. I thought their tone was a little abrupt especially when they said that I was an hour late for my appointment. I let them know that I wasn't late and that I had checked in early at reception and had been sat in waiting room. I had approached staff after an hour to ask if I was still being seen. They apologised as they only knew a short while ago that you were here! I wasn't too happy.
I had my eye test and was then shown into a different waiting area. I asked if it was going to be another long wait as I had family waiting for me. They said it wouldn't, which to be fair it was probably only 5 minutes or so.
When I was called into the room to have my injection again I was quite clearly made aware that I was over 1 hour late for my appointment and they had been waiting for me! I felt quite upset by this time and very clearly made them aware that it wasn't my fault and that I had checked in 20 minutes before my initial appointment time.
They apologised but by this time I was feeling very upset and humiliated. I was told if I hadn't gone back to check that I was still being seen I would probably be still sat there and eventually I wouldn't have been seen.
The injections I have are traumatic enough without having to go through all of this and being made to feel the way I did. I finally had my treatment and left feeling quite upset with the whole thing.
I have had my previous 5 eye injections at Boston hospital and never had a problem from arriving and leaving with any of the appointments. I only went to Lincoln Hospital as Boston Hospital had no available appointments.
"Left feeling quite upset with the whole thing."
