"An incredible experience"

I am always so anxious going in for medical procedures, but I had an incredible experience at Highland Sexual Health RNI hospital Inverness. From the moment I met the nurse, she was bubbly, chatty and warm.

While the usual interrogation for contraceptive procedures took place -which is totally necessary and I understand why it happens- it was not awkward or scary. She asked kindly, and had a general friendly manner which put me at ease. I felt like there was a clear person centred approach, where my need for control over the contraceptive procedure (implant removal) were met.

Further, Mairi (or Mhairi I'm not sure how she spells her name) used inclusive language which I know is important to so many, and didn’t push me as to why I wasn’t getting the implant replaced. She allowed me freedom of choice, allowed me to pause the procedure whenever I needed, and made the overall experience truly painless.
