"My ENT appointment"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Ear, Nose and Throat Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Medical Imaging

(as the patient),

I attended for a follow up ultrasound scan of my thyroid. On a PET CT scan an avid nodule was noted. My last US scan was reassuring- the nodule was small and I had no symptoms.

This time I was more worried as I have new symptoms of swallowing difficulties.

Cat was the radiographer - she was polite, caring and proficient. She reassured me again that the nodule was small- no different from last time.

She told me that my scans would be reviewed in a team meeting.

I have another appointment to discuss my swallowing difficulties but it is a relief nothing of concern was seen on the scan.

Thank you RDUH. Great care.

Hello Over80

My name is Liz Chapman and I am the Cluster Support Manager for Medical Imaging at the RD&E Wonford.

Thank you for taking time to share your recent experience during your Ultrasound scan and your interactions with Cat.

I know that having follow up scans can cause anxiety with the unknow of what will be found but I was pleased to hear that Cat was able to provide you reassurance during the visit.
We are fortunate to have someone on the team who is polite, caring and can reassure patients in their time of need.

I have shared your comments with Cat and the team. I hope that you continue to find comfort with the team in future visits.

Kind Regards

Liz Chapman
