"I have benefited from being here"

About: Cloughreagh House

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Cloughreagh is an excellent service , everything you need is provided for you, heat, food and good attentive care. The companionship was good for me and I met some lovely people here and talked at length around the dining table. Its been like a holiday.

I also looked forward to the activities because it gave me an opportunity to get to know the people who weren't at my table. I like to keep my mind active and the  quizzes were good for this.

The surroundings are beautiful and I was able to get out for a daily walk.  There were plenty of seats to sit down if I was getting tired and I loved watching the birds and the squirrels.

Visiting times were very good and people were able to get to see me easily.

I did find the tea wasn't very hot, but overall the food was very good.

The one thing I would like to say though is when they came to me in the hospital to talk about Cloughreagh I felt pressurised into agreeing to come although I wasn't sure what the service was about.  Now I have to say it was the right path for me to take and I have benefited from being here.

Thank you for sharing your story on care Opinion. I am delighted that your overall experience was very good and that you benefited mentally and physically while you were with us. We really do understand that mental stimulation is important for health and wellbeing. As a result of feedback from previous service users we reviewed our activity programme and then developed a more meaningful activity planner as a result of this.

Earlier this year two staff from Cloughreagh House attended a course called My Home Life, as part of the course they completed a Quality Improvement project based on activities. Learning from this project was significant and has influenced the type of activities we provide. We have had such positive feedback to date from service users and our intention is to continue to seek new ideas.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise about the tea, I will certainly speak to the staff about this.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your story and for providing constructive feedback. This is very important to us because we can improve the service we provide for others.

On behalf of the team I would like to wish you continued good health and to wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Take care

Kate Mc Beth
