"Sessions were fun for my daughter"

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was on the waiting list for speech and language therapy for a year. She had been referred by her nursery school. It was a difficult time for her at school, trying to make new friends and build relationships while the teacher and other children found it difficult to understand her. We had a few blocks of speech and language to go through different sounds, with Robyn and Claire the two therapists. They were really amazing, the sounds came very quickly with their direction. 

They made the sessions fun by playing games and giving stickers, they were great at encouraging my daughter and reassuring me.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback of your experience of Speech and language therapy. First of all I would like to say that I am sorry you had to wait for a year to access our service. Sadly demand for SLT often outweighs our resource. We are working hard to try to improve our waiting times by increasing the number of initial assessments we provide, whilst balancing this with our commitment to treatment appointments.

We are very aware of how challenging it can be for children and their families while they wait to be seen, so we have introduced a new telephone triage process. This means that parents can now speak to a speech therapist for advice as soon as they are referred.

I am delighted to hear that once you accessed our service your experience was so positive and you felt reassured and supported.

How wonderful that your daughter made such rapid progress all whilst having fun!

Robyn and Claire are both excellent therapists who are very dedicated to the children and families accessing SLT and I know they will be so delighted that you have appreciated their support. Your kind words will serve to boost the entire team, it means so much to us. Many thanks again and every good wish for the future.
