"Two Hip Replacements"

After a long wait (which was the norm, but very frustrating) I had both my hips replaced at the NHS Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank.

I was nearly at the stage of having to go private and dip (deeply) into savings, but because waiting lists were so high, NHS Tayside was allowed to send patients to the Golden Jubilee.

Covid held things up a bit - but once in the system, the service was excellent.  Everything was very joined up from pre-op through to post-op care.

Having specialist units like this seems so sensible.  A brilliant team supporting the surgeon, Mr Picard.

Left hip had no cartilage left and joint replaced in February 2022.  Right hip had very little cartilage left and joint replaced in October 2022.

Did all the post-op exercises as instructed and now hips are as good as new.

Am doing lots of walking, swimming, e-biking, DIY outside work and have (very carefully) completed my 50th Parkrun - really miss the running - but not intending to do much - just the occasional jog on a good surface.
