I broke my right fibula and attended the Royal South Hants A&E. I was put in a back slab (a temporary plaster splint held on with bandages). I was told I was not to put any weight on that leg and was given crutches, also that I would be seen the orthopaedics team at Southampton General as an urgent case and preferable within 3 days.
Two weeks later and I hadn’t received an appointment. I phoned them as I was advised and a very rude call centre administrator told me I would be called when they have an appointment and to not call back again!
As expected my back slab, which goes for my thigh to my toes, was falling apart, with no hope of a proper fibreglass cast being fitting.
The service by the orthopaedics team at Southampton General (UHS) has been very poor.
