I went to an appointment onat westmarc Glasgow. I needed a new socket for my vacuum seal above knee leg doing. As my current socket is a really bad fit. Anne my prosthetic technician is amazing but informed me that it’s taking up to 3 months minimum to get a new socket made. Luckily she went and found the first leg I’d been fitted with over three years ago. She removed the inner liner and with the aid of a thin stump sock it actually fits my stump. This is not ideal as it’s held on with a Velcro belt. And as a double amputee this is far from ideal but at least it’s a leg I can now wear without severe discomfort. It should be sorted out so amputees don’t have to wait months on end to be able to go on to live our life’s after life changing disabilities. I’m grateful for all westmarc and Anne has done for me but it seems the service has definitely got worse.
"Grateful for Westmarc but I have a 3 month minimum wait"
