My daughter has had excellent care throughout the past 18months, under the tier 3 team at Thorneywood.
Unfortunately her condition has deteriorated considerably during the past two months and we've been told that tier 4 inpatient care is the only way forward.
We met with the fantastic inpatient psychiatrist last week who showed me around the unit. I was very impressed with the facilities and standard of care. I was however extremely saddened to learn that the unit is not at full capacity (10 beds taken out of 12 available). This is because there are not enough highly trained staff available.
I cannot begin to describe how utterly heartbreaking it is to be told this and to have no idea how long we may have to wait. My daughter is struggling enormously and this is obviously having a huge impact on our family as a whole.
As every day goes by I just feel more desperate and increasingly angry that my beautiful daughter cannot get the help she so badly needs. We cannot wait until she deteriorates further. I remain hopeful that a place will become available very soon before it is too late.
