"Having to show personal information in order to park"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I recently had an out patient procedure done in the gynaecology ward. As I was trying to park, the parking attendant asked me for my hospital letter which contained very confidential and personal information regarding the procedure I was about to have done. When I did not show them my letter, they were very rude and suggested I should not be allowed to park here. This added extra upset onto what was an already upsetting day. I realise not everyone can be able to use the car park but there needs to be a better way of showing you have an appointment.

Dear Anonymous 100

Many thanks for sending us your feedback. I am very sorry to hear about your parking experience when you were already anxious coming in for a procedure, this is not what we want patients to encounter. You are correct in saying that parking has to be managed and I will however this must be achieved without causing embarrassment or distress. I will share your feedback with the parking team so that they can review any changes that can be made.

I hope that you are recovering well from your procedure.

Best wishes

Jenny
